Lobel to Appear on Boston Herald Radio

 By Joe Parello  @HerewegoJoe

Boston sportscasting legend and SuiteSports blogger/podcaster extraordinaire Bob Lobel will appear on The Boston Herald's "Morning Meeting" internet radio show Thursday morning from 9:30-10 am.

So, if you can't get enough of Lobey from his public address announcing at Fenway each weekend and, of course, his famous SuiteSports blog/podcasts, here's another chance to hear one of the great voices of New England sports.

Lobel will join hosts Jaclyn Cashman and Hillary Chabot to discuss… Well, Boston sports, I would imagine. "Morning Meeting" tackles Massachusetts' biggest local news and politics stories each morning, and is the the Herald's attempt to bring a younger audience to talk radio.

Not that I know anything about marketing to those crazy kids, but this quote from Cashman makes it seem like they sorta know what they're doing.

“We’re just moving into the future, and The Boston Herald is tuning into a great opportunity,” Cashman told the Herald's Antonio Planas. “Most people in their early 20s, 30s, they don’t even have a car. They are on the subways. They are on their iPhones and smartphones. They can listen to us on their way to work, in the gym or on the T.”

Full disclosure, Cashman was my boss when I worked at GoLocalWorcester, and she scared the bejesus out of me. She's tough. But, if anybody can bring those apathetic 20-somethings to talk radio, it's her.

Whatever Lobel discusses with the ladies of "Morning Meeting," I'll be listening and rooting for them and the show.

And of course, Bob will be on with me at noon tomorrow for our weekly podcast. Tune in for a ton of A-Rod talk, and whatever else Bob and I feel like jabbering about.
