Bob Lobel: Boston's Championship Family

From our family to yours, happy holidays!
By Bob Lobel (@boblobel)

This is our small, but much envied family.

Everyone wants us to come live with them, not for a holiday, but forever.  They say they will build a special house for us, something like a museum.

As a season greeting, the four of us want you to know we love our home just the way it is, and just where it is. We love it here, and from what we can tell, you love us back.

One thing to keep in mind this holiday season is just how we got here. We were not delivered by a big guy in a red suit. We all arrived at different times in different ways, but once we met, it was love at first sight.

Of course, we have baggage. All families do!

You  can try to buy us (many have), and maybe that will get you close. But, in the end, you will have to work for us, cheer for us, cry for us and basically, to sum it up, EARN US!

We are special, but so are you. We wouldn’t be here if you weren’t. Our place in your family is important. Why? It's pretty basic. Simply because of the connections we are able to create with young and old.

We are a generation connector and always will be. Yes, this holiday season brings us very close to another bauble (that’s how we refer to each other). It means none of us is any more or less important than the other. Our focus at the moment is to expand our family, with some help from the Patriots.

The key to that is to stay healthy. No injuries of significance in the final two games before the postseason. We have the fans, we have the tradition, we have the love, we need the luck (you know the kind we mean).

So let's get another space ready. We plan to fill it. Oh yea, thanks for bringing us together.

Love, your pals.
