Rockland Downs Cardinal Spellman in Division 6 South Sectional Matchup

By Nate Rollins (@n_rollins1)

ROCKLAND, Mass - The Rockland High defense has made life miserable for opposing offenses.

The No. 3 Bulldogs entered their Division 6 South Sectional quarterfinal match against No. 6 Cardinal Spellman High with some eye-popping numbers on that side of the ball.

Through their first seven contests, they had allowed more than two touchdowns just once (In a 28-0 loss Week 2 against Abington) and this evening followed the same trend.

Rockland held the Cardinals to a season-low three points to snatch a 14-3 victory.

Cardinal Spellman Still Unbeaten After Route of Bedford

By Nate Rollins (@n_rollins1)

BROCKTON - Through its first two matchups, the Cardinal Spellman High football team has found itself playing catch-up quite a bit.

In Week 1, the Cardinals rallied back from a pair of deficits to knock off defending Division 3 state champion Hanover. The following week was not much different. In the final 3:21, Spellman scored two touchdowns to rally past Sharon, 21-14.

On Saturday afternoon, the Cardinals found themselves in unfamiliar territory, as there was no hole to dig out of.

Spellman put up a 28-spot in the first half, en route to a 30-6 non-league win over visiting Bedford High.

By Tom Joyce (@TomJoyceSports)

BROCKTON, Mass. - The start and finish were drastically different, but it did not have much impact on the final outcome.

On Tuesday night, Boston Cathedral traveled to Brockton to take on Central Catholic League opponent Cardinal Spellman, and a fast start propelled the Panthers (10-4) to a tight 83-78 road win over the Cardinals (7-4).
