The opening week loss to Belmont is far-away in the rearview mirror for Milton.

On Friday night, the Wildcats captured their fifth consecutive victory, knocking off Bay State Herget rival Needham, 22-14, courtesy of a pair of late defensive stands and three takeaways. Quarterback Luke McMenamin finished with two touchdown passes to Isaiah Woodley. The win moved Milton into sole possession of first place in the league.

No. 4 St. John's Prep continued to dominate the competition, taking care of Catholic Conference rival BC High with relative ease.

No. 7 Mansfield looked as though it was on upset alert against Attleboro for most of the night, including in the games late stages when the Blue Bombardiers took a one point lead with 1:20 left.

The Hornets, however, were relentless on the ground highlighted by the trio of Aiden Sacco, Cincere Gill, and Khristian Conner. Conner capped off Mansfield's game winning drive with a plunge from 11 yards out as the Hornets held on for the 42-35 win.

No. 21 Springfield Central proved its stands alone atop Western Mass. with a dominant win over upstart Westfield, while No. 16 St. John's Shrewsbury continued to roll with a victory over Shepherd Hill.

If there was any hangover from No. 17 Shrewsbury's loss to St. John's last week, they certainly didn't show it as the Colonials blitzed Algonquin, 40-13, at the new David J. Adams Field.

Central Catholic moved into first place in the MVC Large with a big win over Methuen, and No. 3 North Andover handily defeated Dracut to clinch a share of the MVC Small.

Marshfield unquestionably had the most thrilling win from the weekend as Nico Pelligrini caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Christian Dunner as time expired to lift the Rams over Dennis-Yarmouth.

Now, here are our top performers from week six of the MIAA Football Season:
