Reading Cruises Past Wakefield in Early Middlesex League Play

It was messy, as most early-season lacrosse games are, and in the end the Reading Rockets found their flow as the game progressed and cruised past Middlesex League rival Wakefield, 7-4.

After giving up the first goal of the game, the Rockets rattled off six straight and never let off the gas.

No one was better offensively than Jack Stanton. The senior notched four goals, two helped by sophomore Colin Comeford, to lead the Rockets.

“It was clicking today,” Stanton said. “We were running plays, and they were just working. I was fortunate to be the guy to put them in the back of the net.”

Wakefield Hangs On Against Melrose to Make D2N Final

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – In a carbon copy of Wakefield’s 11-10 overtime over Melrose in the Warriors toughest test during an undefeated season, the host Warriors edged Melrose, 12-11, in a thrilling Division 2 North semifinals matchup on Tuesday evening. 

After the top-ranked Warriors (20-0) expanded an 8-3 halftime lead to 10-3 early in the third quarter. But No. 4 Melrose (12-7) came storming back with six unanswered goals to put the pressure on undefeated Wakefield right down to the final whistle. 

Wakefield Pulls Away from Beverly to Remain Unbeaten

WAKEFIELD - To become the best, you must knock the champ off the mountaintop, and the Wakefield boys lacrosse team keeps knocking off the best teams in the North.

The Warriors gave up the first two goals of the game to perennial power Beverly before thumping the Panthers 18-8 at Landrigan Field to improve to 17-0 on the season.
