Now, this about your Boston Bruins.

If they were in the English Premier League, they wouldn’t be around long. It's not easy to miss the playoffs three years in a row in the National Hockey League. Heck, it's not easy missing the playoffs at all in the National Hockey League.

There is a section of the instructions to the Baseball Writers of America that was added a few years after the writers established the Hall and the honor it carries. 

It’s the rule five clause that specifically deals with character issues. That’s why there is no Pete Rose, nor will there be a Clemens, Bonds, Palmeiro, or A-Rod.  

I think they should make the process better by adding a sixth rule. Simply, it should say, “ignore rule five.” 

Then the best players of all time will get into the place designed to honor the best players of all time.

Sometime tomorrow we will be eager to learn something that has no relevance to anything.

Yet, for some bizarre reason we talk, argue, moralize and preach the merits of who does or doesn’t deserve to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Easier to get into heaven than the Hall of Fame.

Actually, getting into heaven seems to be a more rational and widely understood process than the one that gets former players into Cooperstown. The process is so screwed up, through the fault of no one but father time, that the board of directors, and they have the power, need to revamp the qualifications and voter eligibility to make this a more sane and deserving process.  

It’s up to them. Do it. Make it right.
