Middleboro Runs Away from Littleton to Capture D6 State Championship

Middleboro captured the D6 state title, and celebrated late assistant coach and teacher Scott Nelson with his old high school number 57 on a special Sachem jersey.

FOXBOROUGH - There was nothing about Littleton that proved a conundrum to Middleboro. The Sachems took the Tigers' best punches early, but dished a considerable amount more during Saturday's 43-20 victory in the MIAA Division 6 state championship at Gillette Stadium.

Middleboro (10-3) earned its first state title since 1983, and fourth in school history as the Sachems put on an offensive clinic at the expense of Littleton (11-1).

Jeremy Soule Runs Wild to Carry Middleborough Into D6 Super Bowl

Woburn, Mass. - Nothing was going to stop Jeremy Soule from leading the Middleboro Sachems to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1983, and he knew it.

The 5-foot-8 senior running back burst for a 76-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage at Woburn High on Friday night, setting the tone in a 27-14 victory over Stoneham in the Division 6 EMass final.

Middleboro Outlasts Old Rochester in Division 6 South Final

Mattapoisett -- If we learned anything Friday evening, it’s that the Middleboro offense is explosive.

Playing at a frigid David S. Hagen Memorial Field, the fifth-seeded Sachems went on a 21-0 run that spanned roughly 12 minutes, opening a three-score lead, and never looked back en route to a 30-21 triumph over second-seeded Old Rochester in the Division 6 South Sectional final.

Middleboro (8-2) will meet the winner of Hamilton-Wenham (9-0) versus Stoneham (7-2) (Saturday, Nov. 11, 1 p.m.) in the D6 state semifinals next Friday.

Middleboro Gets Payback Against Norwell in D6 South Semis

Norwell, Mass - Revenge can be a sweet thing. On Friday evening, it certainly was for Middleboro High.

The No. 5 Sachems avenged a 34-32 nail-bitting loss to Norwell just three weeks ago to down the No. 1 Clippers, 32-22, in a Division 6 South Sectional semifinal tilt.

“Resiliency man,” Middleboro head coach Pat Kingman said. “We had a couple tough losses, obviously one to these guys and one to Rockland, and these guys believed in it the whole time. We got some gamers.”

Middleboro will meet No. 2 Old Rochester (8-1) in the Division 6 South Sectional final next week.

Growing the Game: Middleboro's New Lacrosse Team is Ready to Compete

There were Sachems playing lacrosse before the Pilgrims came to America, but it wasn’t until this year that Middleboro High School Sachems began playing varsity lacrosse.

The several hundred-year-old sport - which also happens to be one of the nation’s fastest growing- found its way to Middleboro High two seasons ago as a JV team. At first, it was an experiment based off a school survey, which asked students the types of programs they like the school to offer.

Now, even if the sport is unfamiliar to Middleboro's student body, the Sachems are relishing the opportunity to compete against the best competition possible.

Middleboro/Hull Needs a Shootout to Top Cohasset

BOURNE, Mass. - Matt Doyle was the hero his team needed Wednesday night.

The senior forward for the No. 8 Middleboro/Hull boys' hockey co-op flipped puck over the No. 9 Cohasset Skippers goaltender's shoulder and into the back of the net for the lone goal in a shootout.

Thanks to Doyle's goal and strong play in net from Sachems senior goaltender Jonathon O'Donnell, who made five stops in the shootout, the Sachems topped the Skippers, 4-3, in the first round the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional playoffs.

For Doyle, making the shot was as big of a relief for him as it was for anyone in attendance.
