Tech Boston Clinches Spot at TD Garden with Route of Hingham

Taunton, Mass. - Playing on the iconic TD Garden parquet floor is something every high school basketball player in the Massachusetts dreams of doing.

On Saturday, the winner of the division 2 South sectional final between Tech Boston and Hingham would get a chance to live out that dream. Tech Boston made it clear right from start of the contest that it would be the team to play at the TD Garden, defeating Hingham soundly by a score of 69-44.

“I’m so happy for these kids, I’m happy for Dorchester, I’m happy for inner city kids in Boston," Tech Boston coach Johnny Williams said. "It proves to you that they are capable kids, and if you hold them to high standards, they will perform.

"We never coddled them, we never dumbed it down, our expectations are at the highest level, and they always step up to the challenge.”

Changes Coming for SuiteSports in 2018

Oh wait, it already is 2018, you say? Okay, so maybe this blog post is a little late, but I thought it was high time I let you, our loyal readers, in on what is happening with our little site.

First, some quick background...

When Jeremy Conlin and I started SuiteSports as a blog back in 2011, we definitely did not anticipate what the site would morph into. We added legendary Boston sportscaster Bob Lobel (that was random, but awesome), and soon SuiteSports became a clearinghouse for any stories I had that didn't make it into ESPN Boston, BostonLax, or any of the other outlets I freelanced for.

But, when ESPN Boston dropped its high schools section in the fall of 2016, we took a major leap- We decided to see if the site could be something more.

Brian Gaughan Leads Walpole in Huge Win at Xaverian

WESTWOOD, Mass. – After spinning eight shutout frames only to watch his team lose in extra innings to Xaverian last Patriots’ Day,  Brian Gaughan couldn’t wait to get another shot at the Hawks.

One year later, the Rebels ace earned a shot at redemption and he held to escape a jam in the bottom of the seventh inning and seal a 2-0 non league win for Walpole on the road.

SuiteSports Talking Mass HS Sports on The Fox High School Radio Podcast

The Fox High School Radio podcast, started by Braintree assistant baseball coach Cam Fox, is a new pod that you should absolutely check out, and a few SuiteSport-ians made an appearance on the show this week.

Editor Joe Parello, reporter Matt Feld and occasional guest editor Brendan Hall sat down with Fox to discuss the biggest stories in Massachusetts high school sports from 2016, look ahead to 2017, and talk any changes they would make to the local sports scene.

This one ran long, because we all have plenty of opinions, but it's definitely worth a listen.
