Brookline Holds on For Wild Win over Braintree

BROOKLINE, Mass. - For a team that depends heavily on four sophomores, Brookline has the makings of a group primed to make some noise.

Lead by double digit scoring from Mark Barrett (15 points), Wesley Delvar (11 points), and Chris Camille (10 points), the Warriors improved to 3-0 on the season, as they overcame a 32-point, 10 rebound performance from Braintree’s Nick Timberlake to defeat the Wamps, 60-57, on Tuesday night at Brookline High School.

The 3-0 start is quite the turnaround for Brookline, considering the Warriors missed the state tournament altogether last season.

Marlborough Grounds Groton-Dunstable to Clinch Mid-Wach B Title

Marlborough senior captain Brian Short (31) scored 16 points in the Panthers’ 72-60 victory over Groton-Dunstable. Sophomore Chris Doherty added 25 points, as the Panthers clinched their second consecutive Mid-Wach B League title.

The Marlborough Panthers outshot the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders on senior night in Marlborough on Friday.

Marlborough (14-4, 11-1 Mid-Wach B) defeated Groton-Dunstable (10-9, 9-4 Mid-Wach B) 72-60, clinching the Mid-Wach B League championship for the second consecutive year.

Leominster Boys Hoops Shoots Past Algonquin

The Leominster Blue Devils lived by the three point shot in their 62-54 win over the host Algonquin Tomahawks in Northborough Friday night.

The Tomahawks (4-5, 2-3 Midland A) found themselves on the losing end of a back-and-forth game between two teams fighting to stay above water in Midland A. Leominster (5-5, 3-2 Midland A) jumped out to a 9-2 run to start the game, but Algonquin battled back, cutting the lead to just 10-8 at the end of the first quarter.
