Brookline Upsets Needham in a Thriller

Brookline, Mass. - After losing earlier in the season to Needham 63-53, the gap between Brookline and the Rockets seemed sizable. With Needham coming off a big win Newton North, it seemed liked history was poised to repeat itself.

Except it didn’t.

Newton North Overcomes Quick Start by Brookline

Brookline, Mass. - After being pummeled by a score of 76-39 in their first meeting against Newton North, the Brookline Warriors were determined to have a better showing on Tuesday. Brookline transferred that mindset to the court early on as they went up by as many as 11 in the first half.

However, Newton North answered the bell in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Brookline 26-8, which ultimately lead the Tigers to an 80-69 victory.

No. 1 Needham Pulls Away from Brookline

Needham, Mass. - Needham came into Friday night’s matchup with Brookline with the reputation as one of the best teams in the state, and the team to beat in the Bay State league.

They confirmed those both of those statements resoundingly early on as the Rockets blitzed Brookline in the first quarter going up by a score of 21-6. Needham never looked back as they possessed the lead the entire game and defeated the Warriors 63-53. The Rockets remain perfect this season, improving their record to 9-0 while Brookline drops to 6-5.

Natick Knocks Off Brookline

Natick, Mass. - Team captains have the responsibility of leading their team before, during, and after games.

Captains Will Brodnitzki, Sho Kinugawa and Peter Ryan were leaders on the court for the Natick Redhawks in their 65-55 victory over the Brookline Warriors on Monday night at Natick High School.

Cambridge Tops Brookline for 51st Consecutive Win

Cambridge, Mass. - For Cambridge the journey may be different, but the destination is exactly the same.

On Tuesday night, the Falcons captured their 51st consecutive victory as, led by Aidan Keefers’ 14 points and seven rebounds, the Falcons knocked off Brookline, 59-53, at War Memorial Gymnasium.

Keefer, a senior, has been a member of the last three Cambridge teams. Now a captain, Keefer realizes that there is certainly a difference between this year’s unit and the previous three.

After all, those teams featured the likes Isaiah McLeod, Dimon Carrigan, and Jakigh Dottin who often led the Falcons to point totals well beyond 75.

This year the Falcons have taken a different approach, as they have yet to score over 70 in each of their first six games.

Everett, Cambridge, Burke, Brookline, Watertown, & Bishop Stang Get Wins at BABC Holiday Classic

BOSTON - The holidays are over, but the gift of winning for Cambridge is still ongoing.

As part of the BABC Holiday Classic at Cathedral High School on Wednesday, the Falcons picked up their 49th consecutive victory, knocking off Portsmouth (NH), 48-46.

Cambridge forward Khai Smith dominated in the paint throughout the contest, finishing with 16 points and 20 rebounds.

The Falcons held a seemingly insurmountable 34-13 lead at the half and seemed well on their way to another blowout victory.

Portsmouth, however, changed their approach in the second half and came out in a 2-1-2 zone in order to slow the game down.

1. St. John’s (Shrewsbury) (8-1; Last Ranking: 2) Only blemish to the Pioneers strong start is a 6-5 loss at Nashoba. They have the pitching and hitting necessary to make another run into the MIAA Division 1A Super 8 Tournament.

2. St. John’s Prep (8-2; Last Ranking - 1) Eagles wound up on the wrong side of a slugfest, suffering an 11-8 loss to conference rival Catholic Memorial.

3. Braintree (7-1; Last Ranking: 3) The Wamps took down BC High at Monan Park to conclude the Challenge to Cure ALS Tournament, and have now won six straight since losing at Brookline on April 6.

Brookline Edges Natick in OT

NATICK, Mass.- The Brookline Warriors outlasted the Natick Redhawks, 81-71, in overtime in a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday night at Natick High School.

In a close contest between two teams fighting for a spot in the MIAA tournament, one star player can put a team over the top.

For Brookline (6-3) on Tuesday night, that player was sophomore Chris Camille, who led all scorers with 27 points, to go along with 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Camille keyed the Warriors’ win in overtime, scoring the first seven points of the extra period, putting the game out of reach of the Redhawks (6-3).

Brookline Holds on For Wild Win over Braintree

BROOKLINE, Mass. - For a team that depends heavily on four sophomores, Brookline has the makings of a group primed to make some noise.

Lead by double digit scoring from Mark Barrett (15 points), Wesley Delvar (11 points), and Chris Camille (10 points), the Warriors improved to 3-0 on the season, as they overcame a 32-point, 10 rebound performance from Braintree’s Nick Timberlake to defeat the Wamps, 60-57, on Tuesday night at Brookline High School.

The 3-0 start is quite the turnaround for Brookline, considering the Warriors missed the state tournament altogether last season.
