Your NFC Wild Card Primer

Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins is pumped to be playing at home, where his team is 6-2 and he's posted a 117 passer rating this season. On the road Washington is just 3-5, with Cousins' passer rating dipping all the way to 87.7.

We kicked off our Wild Card Weekend preview yesterday with our AFC Primer. Both of us like the road teams on that side of the bracket. Here comes the NFC Primer, where again, both road teams are the nominal favorites.

All four road teams can't end up winning, can they?

A reminder, in case you missed the AFC Preview - the "DVOA" line in the "By The Numbers" section is the Football Outsiders' metric "Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average." It is designed to measure each team on a per-play basis, adjusted, obviously, for the opponent, but also for down and distance. For example, a 6-yard gain on 3rd-and-4 against Seattle is a more valuable and/or meaningful play than a 11-yard gain on 4th-and-12 against New Orleans. DVOA accounts for those things. And positive numbers represent more yards/points, so a defense is better when it is further negative.

Let's dive right in.

Last Minute Fantasy "Start'ems and Sit'ems:" Week 3

I know starting Mike Wallace is scary, but you're just going to have to trust me this week.
By Joe Parello (@HerewegoJoe)

Last week my picks didn't work out so well.

I told you to sit Jay Cutler, who threw for four touchdowns, and told you to start Jake Locker, who threw for over 230 yards and a touchdown, but also had a pair of picks against the horrific Cowboys defense.

I also picked the wrong New England running back (we've all been there), told you to start Golden Tate (though his 5 catches for 57 was better than the guy I told you to sit, Pierre Garcon, who had 1 catch for 12) and told you Chris Ivory wasn't likely to score another touchdown.

Ivory had a bad game against Green Bay, just 43 yards on 13 carries, but dammit, he scored again!

So, why will this week be any better? Because there's no way I can be that wrong two weeks in a row, right? If anything, you can start using these columns to do the opposite of what I say. So, without further ado, here are your last minute fantasy Start'ems and Sit'ems for Week 3.
