On Wednesday, SuiteSports unveiled its full list of award winners beginning with announcing Everett's Mike Sainristil as its 'Show-Time' winner. We then followed by unveiling Scituate quarterback Aidan Sullivan as the 2018 MIAA High School Football Player of the Year.

In the afternoon, SuiteSports announced the rest of its award recipients including offensive, defensive, and breakout player of the year, underclassmen of the year, lineman of the year, and coach of the year.

Now, SuiteSports and its panel of writers, correspondents, and editors are ready to release its 2018 MIAA High School Football All-State Teams. MIAA Football: Top Performances From The Thanksgiving Games

While some may say that the new MIAA playoff format has lessened the meaning of Thanksgiving Day, there is no question that across the Bay State on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday a bevy of teams went out there hungry to secure a victory in their season's final game.

To begin the week, Foxboro defeated Mansfield at Fenway Park, 35-33, in a triple overtime thriller.

One day later back at Fenway, Xaverian secured its fifth Catholic Conference title in six years defeating St. John's Prep, 14-12, in front of a terrific crowd. Framingham followed up by upsetting Natick, 14-6, in the 113th meeting between the two teams to snap a six game losing streak to the Redhawks.

Due to the frigid cold temperatures that encapsulated Massachusetts on Thanksgiving Day, a handful of games were moved to Wednesday night. The day saw its fair share of standout performances with James Dillon setting the Lincoln-Sudbury program record for rushing touchdowns, Zach Sanderson surpassed the 2,000 yards rushing mark for Northeast Regional, and Jay Brunelle capped off his season with 1,157 receiving yards to his name.

Of course Thanksgiving Day itself brought plenty of memorable moments. Twin brothers Zach and Luke Maffeo went head-to-head, with Zach getting the better of his brother in a win for Latin Academy over O'Bryant. Falmouth and Barnstable played met for the 137th time with Kyle Connolly stealing the show in a Clippers victory.

In the oldest public school Thanksgiving Day rivalry in the country, Needham survived a late Wellesley surge to come away with a 14-13 victory.

Milton Rises to the Occasion, Takes Down Needham

Milton, Mass. – There was no secret where the football was going.

Both sidelines, the officials, and the full house in attendance at Brooks Feld in Milton had seen Needham star playmaker Matt Smith dominate for most of the second half. So, with the game down to one final play the Wildcats were ready for  what was to come.

On fourth and goal from the six-yard line and 45 seconds left, Rockets quarterback Charlie Ogletree lofted a jump ball to Smith only for a pair of Wildcat defensive backs to swat it out of bounds as Milton moved into sole possession of first place in the Bay State Herget with a 22-14 win over No. 5 Needham on Friday night.

For this week, our tenth pick is the first two games of the ALCS between the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox. Please enjoy Matt's diatribe on how the Astros are better at using analytics than everyone else. Joe took a slightly less, uh, analytical approach to his picks.

Parello's Pick: If the Tide was gonna lose, I feel like it would have been before super soph QB Duke Doherty and new coach Theluxon Pierre really got rolling. We're past that point, and it's hard to see anybody knocking off Everett now.

MIAA Football: Top Five Games to Watch in Week Five

It will be awfully hard for anything to top last week's slate of games, but this weekend's schedule poses some interesting matchups.

While some leagues inch closer towards determining a champion, other teams are taking a week off from conference play to go up against top-tier non-league opponents.

Editor Joe Parello and myself will have all our picks out for this weekend's top games out tomorrow, but until then here are our top five matchups to watch in week five.

Following the conclusion of week three, SuiteSports is ready to unveil is updated MIAA Football Top 25 Poll as selected by its panel of writers, correspondents, and editors.

There is minimal movement inside our top 10 this week, with Needham making the one big jump four spots up to No. 10. Elsewhere, Braintree moves into the top 15 with its win over Framingham and Tewksbury and Stoneham supplant themselves in the top 20. Three new teams headline our final five in the poll, with Natick returning at No. 21, while Marlboro and Acton-Boxboro appear for the first time.

With week one in the books, SuiteSports is ready to release its first regular season MIAA Football Top 25 Poll as selected by its panel of writers, correspondents and editors.

The biggest jump of the week comes from Duxbury (No. 11) who moves up nine spots following its impressive win over Bridgewater-Raynham. Joining the poll this week is Barnstable (No. 20) and Whitman-Hanson (No. 24).

We will have more high school football coverage throughout the week, but for now here is our updated MIAA Football Top 25 Poll.

To kick-off our countdown to the start of the MIAA high school football season, we unveiled on Monday our five predictions heading into the year.

Now, SuiteSports is ready to unveil its 2018 Preseason Player of the Year Watch List as selected by its panel of writers, correspondents and editors.

We like to caution that this is just a preseason “watch list” and players can easily play their way into the discussion on a week-by-week basis. Check back in tomorrow as we release our picks for all of the exciting slate of games set to be played later this week.

Lift Off: Matt Smith Ready For The Final Act of His Storied Rockets Career

Needham's Matt Smith has asserted himself as one of the top Division 1 prospects.

Needham, Mass. – It’s a hot Wednesday afternoon, and Needham is fresh off a three-hour practice as part of its training camp.

The Rockets participate in their local media day, partaking in tens of videos and hundreds of photographs. As the session ends, Matt Smith heads into the locker room to trade in his Needham practice jersey and pads for a Duke football shirt. It is the truest signal that the star who has become one of the top best play makers in Massachusetts in recent years has met the goals he set for himself early in his career.

“The IVYs offer a prestigious education, but with Duke it was the best of both worlds,” said Smith. “They offer a terrific education, but also the scholarship opportunity to go with it."

For Smith, though, college can wait. He still has one fall left with a Rockets team seemingly poised to shakeup the landscape in Division 1 South.

“We have a legitimate chance to compete for a state championship.”
