Mike Sainristil is SuiteSports' 2018 MIAA High School Football 'Show-Time' Award Winner

Everett's Mike Sainristil had a standout senior season, clearly supplanting himself as the most exciting player to watch in Massachusetts.

SuiteSports and its panel of writers, correspondents, and editors is excited to announce Everett's Mike Sainristil as this year's recipient of the 'Show-Time' Award given to the most exciting MIAA High School Football player to watch in the state.

In the past, the award was specifically given to Central Mass. football talents, but this year we elected to open it up to the entire state of Massachusetts. Previous winners include Isaac Yaidom, Kevin Mensah, and Tajon Vassar. There was no question that as the season developed, Sainristil was in a class of his own when it came to what he brought to the football field on a weekly basis.

Throughout the MIAA High School Football season, SuiteSports released its MIAA Football Player of the Year candidates, adding to the list on a weekly basis.

Midway through the regular season we began with five candidates, before eventually finishing during the week of the state semifinals with 14 total candidates.

Now, SuiteSports and its panel of writers, correspondents, and editors, is ready to release its five finalists for its 2018 MIAA Football Player of the Year Award. Back in 2016, Duxbury quarterback Bobby Maimaron took home the honor in helping to lead Duxbury to a Super Bowl. Then, last year, King Philip two-way star Shane Frommer earned the award after propelling King Philip to 25 consecutive victories and a second straight state championship.

Now, these five players are hoping to join Maimaron and Frommer among those who have won the award. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 5th along with our offensive, defensive, breakout, underclassmen, and coach of the year awards.

MIAA Football: Top 25 Poll Week Seven

Holliston storms into our Top 25 Poll for the first time this season after capturing the TVL Large title.

With the MIAA Football regular season set to wind down this weekend for all teams across the state, SuiteSports is ready to unveil its final top 25 poll until the conclusion of the postseason.

In our final regular season poll, the top five remains the same although there is some re-shuffling as North Andover moves into the No. 2 spot for the first time this season. Natick catapults into the top 10 due its blazing finish to the season, while Walpole appears for the first time all season at No. 18 following a huge win over Needham.

Holliston, meanwhile, also makes its first appearance of the 2018 season as terrific line play cemented a TVL Large title and clinched the No. 2 seed in Div. 5 South.

Heading into week five, here are our two editors shake up in the standings. Joe promises to be better, but he can be a filthy liar sometimes.

Parello's Pick: If the Tide was gonna lose, I feel like it would have been before super soph QB Duke Doherty and new coach Theluxon Pierre really got rolling. We're past that point, and it's hard to see anybody knocking off Everett now.

Feld's Pick: The Eagles defense keeps this one interesting for a half, but Everett's speed becomes the late deciding factor.

Doherty Early, Defense Late Keep No. 1 Everett Undefeated

Everett, Mass. – While they may not have provided the flash of the first two weeks, Everett still was the team celebrating after 44 minutes.

Sophomore Duke Doherty threw for 224 yards and three touchdowns while the Crimson Tide defense made a late fourth quarter stand as No. 1 Everett held off No. 6 St. John’s Prep, 26-14, on Saturday afternoon at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Everett (3-0) has now won 22 consecutive games and holds a 17-2-2 all-time record versus the Prep.

“This was a playoff atmosphere,” said Everett head coach Theluxon Pierre. “This is what you need, good competition. I was proud with how we came together at the end there.”

MIAA Football: Top 25 Poll Week Two

The two first weeks of the MIAA Football regular season are now in the books, and SuiteSports is ready to release its second regular season MIAA Football Top 25 Poll as selected by its panel of writers, correspondents and editors.

There is a shakeup in our top five, with North Andover grabbing the No. 5 spot following a win over Lowell on Saturday afternoon. Elsewhere, Needham (No. 14) and Brockton (No. 15) have firmly supplant themselves in our top 15 while Braintree (No. 17) makes its season debut. 

We will have more high school football coverage throughout the week, including our first high school football notebook out tomorrow, but for now here is our updated MIAA Football Top 25 Poll.

1. Everett (2-0; Last Week: 1) Forget catching Everett, it's going to be interesting to see whether anyone can simply slowdown Mike Sainristil.

Mansfield, Mass. -- Unequivocally the premiere game of week two, the No. 3 Mansfield Hornets hosted the reigning defending Division I Super Bowl Champion No. 1 Everett Crimson Tide on Friday evening.

Mike Sainristil's performance alone made sure the game did not disappoint as he compiled 110 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and reeled in three more interceptions to lead Everett past Mansfield, 41-14, in front of a full house at Alumni Field.

MIAA Football: Our Week One Picks!

It’s officially time for us to introduce our first slate of picks with the MIAA High School Football season just about set to get underway.

While most of the action is slated to take place on Friday or Saturday, No. 20 Duxbury will take a trip to Bridgewater-Raynham tomorrow night, and SuiteSports will be there to provide updates, as well as a recap following the conclusion of the action.

MIAA Football: Five Predictions For The 2018 Season

Boston, Mass. – The MIAA high school football season kicks off on Friday night and with that programs from across eight divisions will begin their quest to try and reach Gillette Stadium.

Every week, SuiteSports will be there to provide content concerning the prior weekend’s action, game previews, picks, feature stories and much more.

Before the season begins, however, we thought we would provide five predictions that we have for the upcoming season. Be on the lookout tomorrow as we release our preseason MIAA High School Football Player of the Year Watch List.

The MIAA High School Football season officially kicks-off one week from today, and with that SuiteSports is excited to unveil its 2018 Preseason Top 25 Poll.

We always caution that preseason polls are tenuous, usually based upon returners from 2017 and any rumblings from the early weeks of camp that we have heard along the way. It can sometimes take a handful of weeks until the true contenders across the state are realized.

Going forward we will release our updated Top 25 poll every Monday following the previous weekends' action. So, look for our next poll to be released on September 10th after all of week one has concluded.

1. Everett (Last Season: 12-0) The Crimson Tide have may lost some key pieces, but still enter as the favorite in Div. 1 under first year head coach Theluxon Pierre and dynamic playmaker Mike Sainristil.

Within the blink of an eye summer has come to a close and it is time for the MIAA High School Football season to kick into full swing. While high school football camps opened up all over the Bay State on Friday, Monday denotes the first full week of practice for most teams. 

Throughout this week SuiteSports will produce a bevy preseason of coverage including feature stories, team previews, and more. To start off all of our content, however, here is our 2018 MIAA High School Football Preseason All-State Team as selected by our panel of writers, correspondents and editors.

Everett High School has become synonymous with excellence as far as Massachusetts high school football is concerned.

The Crimson Tide have won the last two MIAA Division 1 state championships, and have been one of the state's premier programs for the last quarter century, capturing 11 Super Bowl titles and over 250 wins under coach John DiBiaso the past 26 seasons.

However, after DiBiaso announced his retirement, then his decision to take the head coaching position at Catholic Memorial, many questions surround the program going into the 2018 season.

Now, one player the Tide were undoubtedly counting on to help bridge the gap in the coming year has decided to take his talents south to the Lone Star State, as four-star defensive back Lewis Cine made his intentions to transfer known this past weekend.

Everett Starts Fast and Hangs On to Down Central Catholic in D1 North Final

Some say that repeating as a state champion is the hardest feat to accomplish in high school sports. So far to date, that has not been the case for Everett.

On a frigid night at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Crimson Tide offense fired on all cylinders as quarterback Jake Willcox threw four first half touchdown passes to lead No. 3 Everett to a 37-29 win over No.1 Central Catholic in the Division 1 North Sectional Final.

The Crimson Tide will now look to defend their Division 1 crown when they take on Xaverian in a rematch of last years Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium on December 2nd.

Willcox (17-for-26, 308 yards, 4 TDs) played behind Jordan McAfee a season ago and noted how special it is to be the focal point this time around.

Things were even early, as a Sal Frelick touchdown pass drew the host Minutemen even with favored Everett at 14 in the second quarter. But it would be all Crimson Tide after that.

Thanks to a swarming defense, play making offense, and some opportunistic special teams, Everett scoring 35 unanswered points to walk out of Lexington with a 49-21 victory, and a trip to the Division 1 North sectional finals.

Everett Rolls to First Round Victory as DiBiasio Earns 300th Career Win

John DiBiasio Earns 300th Win in Playoff Victory

Everett - It may have been a contest filled with future college football stars, but on Friday night the most important statistic belonged to the head coach.

Everett coach Jon DiBiaso secured the 300^th victory of his career on Friday as the Tide, behind three first half touchdown passes from quarterback Jake Willcox, defeated No. 6 St. John’s Prep, 49-14 in the first round of the MIAA Division 1 North playoffs.

The feat of 300 career victories is nothing short of amazing. DiBiaso joins Northbridge head coach Ken LaChapelle (352 wins) as the only two active head coaches in MIAA football history to reach the 300 win plateau.

DiBiaso, who has 12 state titles, now is 300-75-1 all-time over 35 years at the helm.

MIAA Football Top 25: Week 6

Despite a loss to rival St. John's (Shrewsbury), senior athlete Chris Campbell and his Shrewsbury Colonials appear in our poll for the first time this season. Most known as a receiver and defensive back, Campbell also hurt the Pioneers with his arm last Friday night.

1. Everett (4-0; Last Week – 1 ) An early fumble proved the only blip in Everett’s latest romp over MIAA competition, as the Crimson Tide rolled past Lowell for a decisive 55-27 victory at Cawley Stadium on Friday night.

2. BC High (5-0; Last Week – 2 ) No issues for the Eagles in the conference opener, will Danny Abraham and company be able to run wild with St. John’s Prep visiting next Friday?

3. Central Catholic (5-0; Last Week – 3) The Raiders are outscoring co-leader in the MVC Lowell by just one point, yet are giving up 187 points fewer this season. We’ll see if that defense stands up against Lowell at Cawley Stadium next Friday.

1. Everett (1-0; Last Week – 1) The Crimson Tide rolled its chief rival in emphatic fashion, downing Xaverian 31-7 in the opener, and the final margin could've been even greater. Not a missing a beat with Jake Wilcox taking over under center, Everett is the clear-cut favorite to repeat as Division 1 champion.

EVERETT - Within moments it was clear; The Crimson Tide are the prohibitive Division 1 favorites in 2017.

Behind a stellar opening day performance from quarterback Jake Wilcox, Everett cruised to a 38-7 victory over Xaverian on Saturday afternoon at Everett Memorial Stadium.

The lead up to the game was a recognition of the town, as it was the Crimson Tide’s homecoming, while the 44 minutes of play that followed were a non-stop celebration of a prolific Everett offense.

Wilcox, who went 11-for-16 for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns, used a multitude of offensive weapons that the Hawks were simply unable to contain.
